Process

Every project begins by reviewing your project inquiry form and then scheduling a phone call for an initial conversation. During this complimentary 20-30 minute phone call, we’ll discuss your project goals, timeline, budget and our rates. If it seems like a good fit for both parties, we’ll set up either a virtual or in-person consultation, depending on your project needs, availability and location.

1 Discovery Session

To kick off your project we’ll do either an in-person or virtual consultation, taking a deep dive into your goals, wants and must-haves. We’ll get in touch with your most authentic self and gain insight into your lifestyle.

We’re looking to understand your personal style and aesthetic during this meeting as well, so if you have a Pinterest board you want to share or a photo of a space you love, this is the time to share them with us!

If the consultation feels like a good match for you and for us, we’ll put together a Design Proposal, outlining the scope of work, fees, estimated project schedule, and next steps.

2 Initial Consultation, Research & Intake

During this phase of the project we are hard at work translating your needs into design dreams. We take the information we gathered during our research & intake phase and translate it into an aesthetic that will be the “true north” for the project. It is essential for every project to have a conceptual direction and design voice to guide the project through each phase. We will also use this time to visit your space, take detailed measurements and photos to use as reference in the development of the design. This process lasts several weeks and culminates in a design presentation where we share a conceptual mood board, conceptual space plan and any conceptual finishes and colors we feel convey the overall design aesthetic.

3 Conceptual Design

The Schematic Design & Design Development phases are where we really get down to business bringing the approved Concept Design to life. For renovation and new build projects, we’ll first focus on formalizing floor plans and elevation drawings. Then, we’ll work out any items involved in the construction phase; from tile, to flooring, plumbing fixtures and lighting. From there, we’ll select the furniture, fabric, window treatments and more! We love designing custom furniture solutions for our clients and if we think it’s appropriate to your project, we’ll present that during this phase as well. This several week process culminates with a design presentation that really helps our clients visualize their end product.

Throughout the design process we will regularly refer back to the overall project budget to make sure we’re staying within the agreed upon range. When we receive quotes from contractors or other fabrication vendors, we’ll share the formal quotes with you for your final approval.

4 Schematic & Design Development

For new builds and renovation projects with construction, we’ll develop a set of construction or design documents. Depending on the needs of the project these drawings can include floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, electrical coordination plans, millwork drawings, plumbing elevations and schedules, finish elevations and more. We also include a Finish Schedule that calls out the specifications for each architectural finish we are using, such as trim, paint, flooring, tile, etc. These documents will provide the entrusted tradespeople with instruction and direction to make our design vision a reality.

5 Design Documentation

This is the phase where the project really starts taking shape! After the approval of your design and budget we begin making our vision a reality. If your project is a new build or renovation this is when construction begins and when we get into Project Management and/or Construction Administration. We are in regular communication with our contractors, sub-contractors and fabricators to answer questions as they arise, review drawings and work out the fine details, and have on-site visits to check-in on progress. Throughout the life of your project we will be managing the vendors, contractors and trades as required, to ensure that the work is delivered to our highest standards.

6 Execution & Installation

This is also when all of our clients' items are being ordered, made and delivered! With our full service purchasing package our clients have access to trade pricing and discounts, while we handle the nitty gritty aspects of purchase orders, shipping and receiving coordination.

On install day, our clients can sit back and relax, while our team gets everything into place and finalizes all the small details that will make your space better and more beautiful! We will prep everything and put it all into place for the final reveal & professional photographs!

Upon delivery, we’ll do a final walkthrough of the space together to review the work and offer helpful tips & advice for keeping your space looking great.
